Lilly King Manning

Lilly King Manning was born in Miami, Florida. She graduated from the University of Miami, Coral Gables, where she majored in Botany and minored in Zoology.

Lilly has prepared scientific illustrations of crustaceans for the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History for over 30 years. Much of this work was done at the Marine Laboratory in Fort Pierce, Florida. More than 600 of her illustrations have been published in scientific journals. Lilly is now using her background, in preparing scientific illustrations, to do watercolors of crabs, fishes and other marine life, and tropical flowers.

An award-winning artist, Lilly is a signature member of the Virginia Watercolor Society and past president of the Washington Water Color Association and The Vienna Arts Society. Her work has been shown at the Smithsonian Institute, Strathmore Hall, and the Cosmos Club. She has been juried into many local shows. Her paintings are found in private collections in France, Scotland, Mexico, and Australia, as well as the United States.

Lilly has taught at Jerry´s Art of the Carolinas. She also demonstrates art materials and techniques for Savoir Faire and for Fredriks Canvas.

Lilly is represented by the Hang Ups Gallery in Kilmarnock, Virginia. She also has many pieces at the Manatee Center in Fort Pierce, Florida. She is a member of the Vienna Arts Society, The Rappahannock Art League, the Washington Water Color Association, and the Florida Watercolor Society. Lilly has been appointed to the Art Committee of the Cosmos Club in Washington, D.C..

Lilly is now working on new tropical paintings from the Florida area.
